Stage 4 — Deep Sleep II: A time where there are no eye movements and there is no muscle activity. The brain produces mostly delta waves in this stage.

Stage 5 — REM Sleep: When breathing becomes shallow, irregular and rapid. Eye movements are rapid and jerk or twitch and muscles are temporarily paralyzed.

The REM stage is where dreams happen but they can occur in the other stages as well. After falling asleep, it takes about 90 minutes for the body to fall into REM sleep and two hours to go through all five stages. The stages are repeated over and over each night.

Age appropriate sleeping habits
  • Infants spend 50% their time in REM sleep.
  • Adults spend only 20% in the REM stage. 50% of their time is spent in light sleep stage II also called delta sleep and 30% in the other stages.
  • Seniors spend less time in the light sleep stage, delta sleep, and some might not experience any light sleep patterns.
Causes of insomnia

  • Central Sleep Apnea is when a person’s breathing stops because their diaphragm and chest muscles stop working.

No matter what I did I was finding myself wide awake for most of the night. I'd finally fall asleep for a couple hours an be tired all day. Over-the-counter and some RX sleep medicines would only make me sleep longer, further messing up my sleep schedule. Other meds were addictive (the last thing I need) or had odd side effects. This natural sleep aid works fast to help me go to sleep, stay asleep, and wake up with everyone else in the morning... No side effects. I love it. I'm even giving some to my mom. i am pretty skeptical when it comes to herbal stuff but I get anxiety from taking normal sleeping pills so I gave this a try. It took a few days before I noticed any difference but after that it seemed like I was falling asleep easier and getting longer sleeps - normally i wake several times during the night but I haven't been doing that lately which is nice. thx!

I've tried many different types of sleeping aids, some of them better than others but the problem was that all of them where habit forming, I also experienced some unusual side effects so I had to stop.

I started to search for an alternative, non-habit forming option and found Natural Sleep Essentials. I was sceptical at first but after using it I started to notice that I was able to quickly fall asleep where as before I would have lay in bed for a good hour or more.
